PACIFIC CREST TRAIL
Post Peace Corps I’m gonna be out on the trails hiking the Pacific Crest Trail—2,653 miles from Mexico to Canada through the beauty of California, Oregon and Washington. I’d been dreaming about this trail before I left for Thailand and non-stop thinking about it since I’ve been here. I can’t wait to spend everyday living out of my pack and becoming bonafide hiker-trash.
At Lightswitch Theatre Company, we create, devise, and produce exploratory and experimental experiences. We seek to abstract familiar spaces and stories to re-engage participants in the joy and privilege of storytelling. Our art reflects the communities we play with and the artists creating the work. We challenge ourselves and, in turn, ask the participants to dive in with us emotionally, mentally, and sometimes, even, physically with the experience.
OUR STORY
Founded in 2016 in Iowa City, Iowa. Skyler Matthias founded Lightswitch as a space to explore how to engage the apathetic and enable the silenced. While studying theatre and entrepreneurship at the University of Iowa, Skyler pitched an immersive theatre company called Lightswitch to two different pitch contests and received $800 to produce a show. He then produced two shows--Tender Napalm and Platform. Following a four year haitus, Lightswitch Theatre Company has returned and is currently producing work in Little Rock, Arkansas.
